One of the Boat Command team members got a quadcopter in the mail today. We naturally couldn’t resist opening it up. After skimming over the manual, we put the parts together and took the quadcopter outside to give it a test flight. The thing was remarkably easy to fly. Despite having very little experience with RC airplanes compared to the others, I was able to fly the quadcopter around without hitting any trees.
This got us thinking about flying it around the water. More specifically, from a boat on the ocean. We think it would be pretty difficult to land on a boat in the waves, but Navy pilots land on aircraft carriers all the time. How hard can it be? If any of you have any experience with landing quadcopters on moving boats, we’d love to hear about your experience.
